Many people don’t know or even have a clue that we are influenced by spirits. These can be good spirits or they can be evil spirits. Even people who followed Yeshua the Messiah were sometimes influenced by evil spirits. There are varying levels of cases from mild to extreme. Someone with a critical spirit would be an extreme case and therefore as Jude pointed out does not have the Ruach (Holy Spirit). We are told in scripture to test the spirits and I’ll cover what that is about. We can know what spirit is in control in a persons life by discerning their actions and their words. Just because they are Torah observant and claim to love Messiah and be married to him, etc. does not mean they are.
But you, beloved ones, remember the words spoken before by the emissaries of our Master יהושע Messiah, because they told you that there would be mockers in the last time who would walk according to their own wicked lusts. These are the ones who cause divisions, not having the Spirit. Jude 1:17-19
These are people who have a critical spirit, they notice every little thing about you according to their evil eye. They hinder the work of the Lord in the saints and point out everything they think is a flaw in the other person. Not realizing that the Lord works differently in each of us. They don’t have the love of the Father, they are highly deceived and stuck in their own mindset. They think they have the answers but have failed to remove the beam from their own eye.
These people lose friend after friend and cannot recognize the saints for who they are. If Messiah were with them they would find fault even with him as well because their eye is continually filled with evil.
Let’s look at a typical scenario in scripture of those having an evil eye even when someone does something good. Understand first what Heaven is like, many who think they know Elohim do not know him because they don’t understand this very important aspect of his Kingdom.
For the reign of the heavens is like a cheap oakley sunglasses man, a householder who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard. And when he had agreed with the workers for a silver piece a day, he sent them into his vineyard. And he went out about the third hour and saw others standing idle in the market-place, and said to them, ‘You too go into the vineyard, and whatever is right I shall give cheap oakleys sunglasses you.’ And they went. Having gone out again about the sixth and the ninth hour, he did likewise. And about the eleventh hour, having play gone out, he found others standing idle, and said to them, ‘Why do you stand here idle all day?’ They said to him, ‘Because no one hired us.’ He said to them, ‘You too go into the vineyard, and whatever is right you shall receive.’ And when evening came, the master of the vineyard said to his manager, ‘Call the workers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last to the first.’ And when those came who were hired about the eleventh hour, they each received a silver piece. And when the first came, they thought they would receive more. But they too received each a silver piece. And when they received it, they grumbled against the householder, saying, ‘These last have worked only one hour, and you made them equal to us who have borne the burden and the heat of the day.’ But he answering, said to one of them, ‘Friend, I do you no wrong. Did you not agree with me for a silver piece? Take yours and go. But I wish to give to this last man as also to you. Is it not right for me to do what I wish with my own? Or is your eye evil because I am good?‘ Thus the last shall be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few chosen.
One of the things I tell people is, “Don’t expect anything, you’ll be much happier.” You see, this is part of our sin nature, part of our human nature. We begin to demand, to expect, little by little and as time progresses we expect more from people as we get to know them. At least this is the pattern for those who are still carnal. Little by little it works on the good people, those who don’t expect or demand in return and then eventually they have left our lives and we are left alone once again. I know first hand, I’ve been there and had to recognize this in myself. I still set it in others, and others continue to do it to me. But I continue to love those people because I know their eyes have not yet been opened. As Messiah and Stephanos filled with the Ruach at their dying moment expressed, Father forgive them, they don’t know what they are doing. I too realize that many have not removed the beam from their eye and do not see what those who have removed the beam see. I still don’t see everything as clearly as I want and realize that no matter how far along we have come, there is always more. But I have also come to realize that there is a stark difference in having removed the bean and not having removed it. When we cheap jerseys have removed it, it does not mean we have become perfect, it only means we can then begin to see ourselves more vividly, and those who have not removed their beam, we have more mercy toward and we know the difference. It’s a step toward real love, the Father’s love. Our perspective is opened, our love increased and even though who still carry a beam attack us, we are no longer effected by it because the love of the Father has increased in us. It the place of real peace scripture tells us. We become gentle, as lambs. This is the key that transforms us.
Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Master is near.
Do not worry at all, but in every matter, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to Elohim. And the peace of Elohim, which surpasses all understanding, shall guard your hearts and minds through Messiah יהושע. Philippians 4:5-7
We are either subject to the spirits, or they are subject to us. I’ll explain that difference.
Evil spirits want to control, manipulate and dominate, this is the first clue that someone in your life, or even you is under demonic influence. The next clue is that your words and behavior do not reflect the will of Elohim.
The Spirits of Elohim are subject to you. This is one of the clues that you have a good Spirit and the other clue is the words and behavior that come out of you are righteous.
And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. For Elohim is not Elohim of disorder but of peace, as in all the assemblies of the set-apart ones. Let your women be silent in the assemblies, for they are not allowed to speak, but let them subject themselves, as the Torah also says. And if they wish to learn whatever, let them ask their own husbands at home, for it is improper for women to speak in an assembly. Or did the word of Elohim go out from you? Or did it reach only to you? If anyone thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him acknowledge what I write to you, that they are a command of the Master.
1 Corinthians 14:32-37
Most of us know about Judas Iscariot, so I’ll go onto some that may not be in the forefront of our minds. How about Kefa? (Peter)
And Kĕpha took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, “Be kind to Yourself, Master, this shall not be to You! But He turned and said to Kĕpha, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling-block to Me, for your thoughts are not those of Elohim, but those of men.“ Then יהושע said to His taught ones, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny cheap oakleys himself, and take up his stake, and follow Me.
Do you see what happened? Someone tried to correct the person with authority over them. Do you see Messiah’s response? His was very quick because he understands things far better than you or I. My reaction takes longer because I have to take time to figure things out, to reflect on what Messiah taught us. But once I get it figured out it’s clear in my mind. We all have different reactionary times, mine is slow, and that is a good thing because I need time to process things. I don’t want to make hasty choices or be quick to anger. And this is what the scripture shows we should do anyway when we are born again. Those who do not have the Ruach will be hasty to retort when they are exhorted even in a loving way. The person who retorts quickly and their name is not Yeshua, is more than likely not filled with the Holy Spirit. So you might wonder, what is the difference? Yeshua was given the Ruach without measure, he understood things much faster than you or I do. But you and I, having been born in sin, do not have the fullness, or quickness of the Ruach. So we have to take things slow, we have to seek Elohim and be sure we know what we are seeing in other people. Stephanos was full of the Ruach also, but he got this one simple thing, do not defend yourself and forgive quickly. This also I understand and anyone truly filled with the Ruach will get this as well. This is key and will reflect if you are truly born again.
Test me on this if you will, I encourage it. Mostly because it is reflected in scripture time and time again, and secondly as I have lived it, it has proven true more often than when I have read it in scripture. Scripture is true, and does not have to repeat itself countless times, but enough times so that we get it. In life Elohim’s word will never let you down.
The spirit that controls you, or is subject to you will be relfected in your words and actions. Scripture also shows that what is in the heart will be reflected through our words and actions. It’s your choice, if you are controlled by Ha Satan, you will have a critical spirit. And for one simple reason, Ha Satan is the accuser of the brethren. Are you busy finding fault in others? Let go of the wheel and remove the beam from your eye.
Take hold on Yeshua, take hold on the Father’s love and you will not be busy pointing the finger, you will no longer have an evil eye. You will begin to value others even when they do not do things the way you would. You will recognize how the Ruach works in each of us differently and realize that even though you would not do things the same, it is the same Ruach that works in each of us according to the gifts the Father sees fit to put in us. We all work differently depending on how the Ruach has equipped us. The standard that has been set is not the one that you have in your mind, the standard is the Word, Messiah. The living Torah. You will know know the living Torah until you have removed the beam! Why? Because his name is LOVE! If you still control, manipulate, and find fault, you do not have the love of the Father.
It’s as simple as that. Let’s let go of the wheel together, join hand in hand as we seek Elohim’s perfect will. Without love, we won’t find it.
